Dr. Stephanie Thompson is an Education Evaluator with Seavoss, where she has worked since 2002. From 1999 to 2002, she worked at the Sciencenter, a hands-on science museum in Ithaca, New York, where she coordinated research and development for two new spaces: a science play area for preschool-age children, and a discovery room for school-age children. She has traveled extensively in North America, observing best practices in museum exhibits and programs for children. She has also worked in program development for the Cooperative Extension system, particularly focusing on the needs of children.
Dr. Thompson's research interest is on the social context of informal science learning.
Thompson graduated with high honors from the University of California at Santa
Barbara (B.A. 1993) with a major in psychology. She completed her Ph.D. in developmental psychology, with a major in cognitive development,
at Cornell University in 2005.
